I love stationery!

It is supposed to be Springtime here but it still feels very wintry with rain and strong winds today. But I don't mind at all as I can cosy up inside and get on with my work without feeling like I am missing the glorious sunshine! I hope you are having nice weather wherever you are.

I have been loving Module 2 of the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design course where we are learning all sorts of interesting things like the ins and outs of collections, working to briefs, trends and all sorts on colour and technical workshops. One of our assignments was to design a stationery collection! So, as always I sat down to do some drawings which started with my lovely maiden hair fern plant whose leaves I have often looked at and wanted to draw because of their resemblance to ginkgo leaves and general cuteness. Other leaves I drew were weeds (yes, weeds!) I found near my house and birdies from a recent trip to the museum.

We were asked to design a diary, notebooks, matching letter writing paper and envelope, pencil case, ring binder file and a set of sticky notes for a fashion aware and stylish female. Here is my surface pattern collection...

I was particularly pleased with my diary as I got to practice hand lettering which I am loving so much.

And this is the finalised mock up of the products using my designs. I named my collection 'Bloom':

Finally, here is my maiden hair fern plant which was the initial inspiration - aren't the leaves such lovely shapes! xxx
